What makes a stripper become an escort?

In recent years, a significant number of exotic dancers have been considering a career change by becoming escorts. What makes a stripper choose to become an escort? Is it an easy transition? Let's find out in this article.

What is a stripper?

A stripper is a person who performs a form of entertainment that involves gradually removing clothing in a seductive or artistic manner, often accompanied by music. That performance is called: striptease.

A stripper will typically perform in venues such as strip clubs (pole dances, floor routines, stage shows…), private parties (bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, private gatherings…), or events, and her performances can range from playful and comedic to sensual and provocative.

During a striptease, full nudity may or may not be involved, depending on the venue's rules or local laws. However, compared with prostitution, stripping is legal in many countries, although regulations do vary regarding nudity, age restrictions, and venue licensing.

The job as a stripper requires physical stamina, creativity, and confidence. Some girls will work as a stripper for years, others for only a short time. In fact, being a stripper is a job that's harder than it looks.

What makes a stripper leaving her industry?

An experienced stripper has confidence and stage presence, dance and fitness ability, (including pole dancing skills), strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients, ability to establish and maintain personal boundaries (by setting clear limits to maintain safety and professionalism in her job).

Although many strippers view their work as a source of empowerment, creativity, or financial independence, being a stripper requires physical effort, practice, and emotional resilience. Therefore, more and more are leaving the industry for reasons such as:

* Irregular working hours (especially at night), often make it difficult to reconcile this lifestyle with a more conventional one.

* The atmosphere of clubs/discotheques makes noise and loud music a daily routine that can be difficult to manage over the long term.

* Striptease after striptease is physically demanding for a stripper, and with time and age, performing at a high level may become arduous.

* Having to remind certain clients of the clear boundaries dictated by their job as a stripper can be tiring as not all men follow the rules (some dream of going much further than just watching a strip show…)

* The desire to earn more money in a less random way, enabling them to build greater financial stability

There are of course other reasons why a stripper might change profession. Some leave the adult entertainment industry for good, others choose to stay, and many of these strippers remain in the sex industry by becoming escort girls

From stripper to escort

The big difference between a stripper and an escort is that what the former has to proposed typically does not include sexual services. Although both professions are stigmatized due to their association with sexuality, in the eyes of the public, strippers have a better reputation than escorts. Now, let’s see what the major differences are between being a stripper and being an independent escort.

The stripper

As mentioned previously, a stripper performs striptease or dance routines in venues such as strip clubs, private parties, or events. Her primary role is entertainment, often incorporating elements of seduction, music, and choreography. Her interaction with clients is generally limited to socializing in the venue or providing private dances, like lap dances, within clear professional boundaries (usually there is no physical intimacy beyond what is permitted by the venue’s rules she works at). A stripper’s performances often take place in a public or semi-private setting with multiple patrons. Because stripping is legal in most countries and is regulated by local laws governing adult entertainment venues, it is easier to get such a job as to find a position as an escort.

A stripper may interact socially with clients to encourage tipping or private dance purchases, but relationships are typically not personal or ongoing (interactions are usually brief and occur in professional settings). A stripper earns money through tips, stage performances, and private dances (payment is often immediate and comes directly from clients or the club she is working at).

Finally, being a stripper (whereas independent or employee) isn’t for everybody as it requires performance-based skills, such as dancing, pole fitness, and stage presence.

The independent escort

An independent escort provides companionship, often on a one-on-one basis, for social events, dinners, or private occasions. Her services may range from non-physical companionship to intimate encounters, depending on the escort’s offerings and the legal context. With an independent escort, intimacy, is almost always offered, typically negotiated privately (prices are usually pre-set by the escort) and clients are met at private locations, such as hotels, residences, or prearranged venues.

The legality of being an escort varies significantly. In some regions of the world, escort service is legal as long as it does not involve sexual services. Where sex work is regulated or decriminalized (like in Switzerland for instance), escorting usually include intimate services. The independent escort provides a more tailored experience than the stripper, which often involves building a personal connection with the client over time. That relationship turns to be more discreet and private, with arrangements made directly between the client and escort.

An independent escort charges for time and companionship, often at a higher hourly or daily rate compared to a stripper. Payment is usually prearranged and may involve additional expenses for travel, meals, or accommodations. Because her entire business focuses on individualized attention and companionship, becoming an escort requires interpersonal and social skills to build rapport and provide a comfortable, engaging experience to gentlemen (escorts ‘clients).

Stripper: where do I start to become an escort?

Just as not all escorts can be strippers, not all strippers can become escorts. Aside from the financial aspect that often pushes a stripper to become an escort, it's first important for her to get rid of any preconceptions she may have about what it takes to become an escort.

Then, if she has a friend or acquaintance who is an escort herself, being able to ask her about her work will give the stripper a good idea of what to expect. If not, reading relevant blogs and articles about the profession (available for free on the Internet) is another way of sharing experience, which I believe is essential to prepare for any transition to escorting.

Starting out as an independent escort can be scary and even quite expensive. For some strippers, choosing to start out in an erotic studio may be considered a less risky way to get started.

Finally, planning a gradual change from stripper to escort will ease the pressure, especially if the start as a sex worker is slower than expected. Unless you have other alternatives, it's a good idea to keep your job as a stripper (even if it means reducing your working hours) and, at the same time, give yourself a chance as an escort. Keeping one foot in an activity you've mastered while slowly transitioning into an activity where you still have everything to learn is a smart way of not putting “all your eggs in one basket”.

Does being an escort pays more than being a stripper? Yes, it definitely does! And having an experience as a stripper can be a big asset while moving into the escorting world. But once again, even if they can be complementary, those two jobs are diametrically opposed to each other. Becoming a successful escort does not happen overnight. It is a journey. Now it's up to you as a stripper to decide whether or not you're ready for this crossing.
